Free Clip Art of Woman: Antique Bonne Annee Postcard with Beautiful Woman

One of my favorite pieces of antique ephemera to look for in antique shops is old postcards. Some of them have the lovliest images of beautiful women and handsome men on them, and they make for great images in projects. Here is one that I hope you enjoy.

Free Antique Clip Art: Antique Postcard Back Handwriting in French

I love images of handwriting. Today's image is of a postcard back full of handwriting. And, it's in French! Sorry that I can't translate, but it looks beautiful and romantic nonetheless.

Free Flower Clip Art: White Roses on Antique Postcard

This is a lovely antique postcard from 1910 with beautiful white roses. I love the embossed design around the edge of the postcard. It's just visible, but it's very pretty.

Free Flower Clip Art: Antique Postcard with White Lilies in Vase

This is a lovely antique postcard featuring white lilies in a very unusual vase. I have taken out the Happy Birthday greeting on the front of this postcard, so now there's enough room to create your own greeting ;-)

Free Antique Postcard Image: Flower Clip Art and Birthday Greeting

This is a lovely antique postcard from 1910 wishing a lucky recipient a Happy Birthday. And, it's purple! My favorite color ;-) I've offered three different compositions of the image: the original, without the greeting, and just the illustration, also without the greeting.
The anchor in the illustration is very interesting. I did a little research and found that the anchor symbolizes both hope and stability. It's used in Christianity to symbolize a hope in Christ and in the secular world to symbolize both hope and stability. I often see the anchor on antique ephemera, especially postcard greetings, and I think it was used as a symbol for hope for the future as is used in birthday greetings. I'll never look at anchors the same way again! Perhaps this will give you some inspiration when using this image.

Free Antique Clip Art: Humorous 1908 Postcard

Isn't this a cute little postcard?! This antique postcard is from 1908. It's dated on the back on October 7th, 1908. I would have posted an image of the back of the card, but it was too badly damaged, which is a shame because I love postcard backs.

Free Antique Clip Art: Antique Die Cut of Frame and Pansies

This is a pretty antique die cut that comes from my Victorian scrapbook from 1879.

The Importance of Doing Your Homework

A reader of this blog brought to my attention that the Audubon images that I recently posted might still be copyrighted by the Audubon society. After doing a little research, I found that that is indeed true. As a result, I've taken down these images. I sincerely apologize for having posted these images without knowing about the existing copyrights.

I make it my endeavor to stay informed on copyright laws, and I only post images on this site that were published before January 1923. When I obtain antique ephemera, I always make sure there is a visible date. Without a date, I won't make it available.
