This is a very pretty antique postcard that was published in 1908. I love the composition of this old black and white photo. All that negative space to the right of the image of the woman allows for a mixed media artist to add all sorts of elements.

This may not look like the front page of a newspaper, but this image is of a front page from The Los Angeles Times dated Wednesday Morning, January 20, 1886. This image was taken from a large book filled with reproductions of historical headlines from the newspaper. The pages are quite large, about 12 x 14 inches, so I wasn't able to scan the entire page. However, I wanted just the typed words for a project I did a while back.
I love this image because it's perfect for a background since the typed words are uniform. What I do is make an image slightly transparent before I use it as a background. This way the words give the hint of an interesting background. I usually do this to images of either typed words or handwritten words.
I've posted another image of a headline from the newspaper at The Antique Image.

Aren't these images cute? I just love the antique baby clothes. This baby clip art was taken from the little Victorian photo album I talked about in the last post. Not all of the black and white photos are in good shape, but a fair amount of them are beautiful.
Check out more free baby clip art at The Antique Image.

These antique images are from a Victorian photo album. This antique clip art is of two title pages in the album. I'm not quite sure of the year, but the people in the black and white photographs look as if they are dressed in Victorian style clothing.
There are several old photographs in the album, which I'll post images of in the future. I found this little gem in a local antique shop, and the squeal of joy could be heard throughout the shop ;-) It's so exciting finding little treasures such as this.

Well, I don't know about you, but I could sure use some good luck for 2010. If I had a horseshoe the size of the one in this image, I'd have no worries. This new year and cherub clip art are from an antique postcard dated 1911.
I took this image of a ship and anchor from this post's image. I thought that the image itself was so pretty that I'd crop it out. Therefore, the ship clip art can be used for something other than a New Year's Greeting.
This antique, New Year Greetings postcard is dated 1913 and has one of the loveliest bits of clip art. The colors are absolutely beautiful!

This antique, Christmas postcard is dated 1911, just after the Edwardian Era. I love the aged look of this Christmas clip art.

Here's another clip art treasure from my Victorian Scrapbook dated 1879. This is an antique New Year's Greeting. Over at The Antique Image is the antique, Victorian Christmas Greeting Card that completes the pair. They are very similar. If you send out New Year's Greetings, this would help make a lovely, handmade card.
This beautiful, antique Christmas postcard dates from 1912 and has the most lovely colors. I don't have a lot of antique clip art with Mary and Baby Jesus, and I wish I had more because the images are so pretty.
Check out The Antique Image this week for more antique Christmas clip art.
