2 Free Graphic Designs: Victorian Design from Old Book

Here are two lovely designs I scanned from an old book. These can be used in so many ways. My favorite is to colorize them on the computer, and then decorate greeting cards or gift tags.

Free Black and White Illustrations: Scans from Old, Victorian Book

Here are two black and white illustrations I scanned from and old, Victorian book.

Free Scan from Old Book: Antique Black and White Illustration of Calligraphy

Calligraphy is beautiful, isn't it? I wish I knew how to do it. This page from an antique Victorian Book on etiquette is a lovely example. I scanned this page from the old book and left it as is.

Here's another lovely example at The Antique Image.

Free Black and White Illustration: Gentility

This image comes from an antique Victorian book on etiquette full of black and white illustrations. Here we are shown the gentility of society and an example of proper behavior in polite society. I can just image a few of the women anticipating when they can go home and get out of all those stiff, pinching undergarments ;-)

Free Image of Victorian Advertising Card: Antique Forest Flower Cologne

From what's printed on the upper left-hand corner, this Victorian advertisement card must have been scented with the cologne. This is still done in stores today, but not on such beautifully decorated cards.

I'm continuing with antique shoes today with this image of an antique woman's shoe from a 1917 clothes catalog.

Here's the description of the shoe from the catalog:

Receding toe: high arch: leather concave Cuban heel: medium weight dress shoe. White laces. SIZES 2 1/2 to8: widths, E, D, and E. State size and width. OUR PRICE, $2.98. Postage 6 cents extra.

Free Image of Women's Shoe Fashion: 1917 Antique Women's Black Pump

Isn't this a lovely shoe? This image of a woman's antique black pump was taken from a 1917 clothes catalog.

Here's the description of the shoe in the catalog:

For afternoon or evening wear - graceful Black Patent Leather Pump. Receding toe: medium weight close edge sole: high Spanish arch: full Louis covered heel with leather top lift. Beaded tongue: suede-finished quarter lining prevents slipping at heel. SIZES: 2 1/2 to 8: widths, C, D, and E. State size and width .....$3.49 Postage 6 cents extra.

They only go up to a size 8?! Well, I wouldn't have been able to be so fashionable since I wear a size 10. Oh, dear. What did poor women like me do?

Free Images of Hands: Black and White Handshake Illustrations

I took these black and white handshake illustrations from an antique Victorian book on etiquette. The first image shows how to shake someone's hand. The second and third show how not to shake hands.

Free Image of Red Rose: Antique Sheet Music Cover

This is the cover page of antique sheet music. I've always loved this image of a red rose and the worn paper together.

Free Images of Antique Advertising Book: 1917 Italian Ad for Perfume

I've got a real treat for you all today! These images are of a 1917 Italian perfume advertising book. They are lovely, aren't they? I got this little gem from eBay several years ago and have used them to make beautiful gift tags. Yep, I've mentioned making gift tags a few times. I do really enjoy making them because they add an extra special touch to any gift. Over at The Antique Image there are 3 more images of this booklet.
